Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens (PD)
The preparatory department of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University opened its doors to foreign students immediately after the resumption of international admission in 1992. Since then, we have trained thousands of applicants from all over the world.
The preparatory department helps foreign students to gain theoretical knowledge in natural science and specialized disciplines, to master the skills of speech communication in Russian at the level necessary for admission and further successful studies at the university.
95% of foreign students who have successfully completed their studies at the preparatory department enroll in the basic educational programs of the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
Training programs
The programs are designed taking into account the specifics of training in engineering and technology, economics and natural sciences.
PROGRAM 1. Additional general education program "Preparation for higher education educational programs (bachelor's degree programs, specialty programs)";
PROGRAM 2. Additional educational program "Preparation for higher education educational programs (master's degree programs, postgraduate programs)".
ACADEMIC DISCIPLINES
- Russian language (from beginner level to B+), mathematics, physics are the main ones.
- Computer science, drawing, social studies, history, introduction to the specialty — additional.
Additional courses for students
1. Engineering career guidance and additional classes
The course includes practice-oriented subjects and master classes aimed at familiarizing students with the engineering fields of study at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University.
- In-depth classes on the subject "Introduction to the specialty"
- Career guidance laboratory classes
- Technical seminars and practices
- Familiarization with the following areas: information technology and artificial intelligence, robotics, aviation and rocket engineering, biomedical engineering, new materials and nanotechnology, electronics and industrial automation

2. The course "Russian language — online"
The Russian Language Online course is an opportunity to prepare for coming to Russia to study at the preparatory department of one of the leading technical universities.
The course program is specially designed for the language adaptation of foreign students from different countries:
- 240 academic hours (2 days a week), 3.5 months
- Reading, speaking, listening, writing
- 24/7 availability of materials

Successful graduates of the Russian Language Online course:
- Will be enrolled in the Preparatory Department for Foreign Citizens at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University;

Conditions of admission to the Preparatory Department
Training period
From September 1 to August 31
Tuition fees
- 340,000 rubles/year — a program to prepare for higher education programs (full—time on the Bauman Moscow State Technical University campus)
- 310,000 rubles/year - a program to prepare for higher education programs (distance learning, with mandatory final certification on the MSTU campus named after N.E. Bauman)
- 57,500 rubles/4 months — additional general education program "Russian language — online"
- 280 000 rubles/year (special condition) — a program for preparing for higher education programs after studying under the Russian Language Online program.
The cost of living in a hostel
About 4,500 rubles/month.
The cost of medical insurance
Foreign citizens in the Russian Federation must have medical insurance (issued upon arrival). The cost is about 8000 rubles.
A comfortable dormitory with a block system (2- and 3-bed rooms, bathroom). It is located next to the academic buildings.

3. Approval of the application
Receive an invitation letter. The university will issue a visa invitation.
List of required documents:
- A copy of the passport in Russian or English (the validity period of the national passport must be at least 1.5 years).
- A copy of the education document (academic certificate or an extract of grades for people who receive education in the current year) .
- Application for an AML indicating the planned level of study: Bachelor's/Specialist's degree, Master's degree, postgraduate degree.
Important:
- Recruitment for the upcoming academic year is conducted from February 1 to August 1
- Applicants with a GPA of 4.2 or more are accepted
